Public Lighting Design was engaged by City of Stonnington to conduct a detailed lighting assessment of the May Road Car Park in Toorak, focusing on safety, visibility, and compliance with AS/NZS 1158.3.1 standards. The assessment aimed to evaluate existing lighting conditions and identify areas requiring improvement to enhance usability for all car park users.
The findings revealed that while average lighting levels met compliance, certain areas, including disabled parking bays, fell below recommended standards. Obstructions affecting light distribution were also identified, impacting overall visibility and uniformity within the car park.
To address these issues, Public Lighting Design provided targeted recommendations, including optimising pole positioning, upgrading to higher-output LED luminaires, and improving overall light spread to enhance visibility and safety. The final assessment report delivered a comprehensive compliance review and strategic improvement plan, ensuring the May Road Car Park remains a safe, well-lit, and accessible public space.
