North East Link South Alliance Compound Site Carpark Lighting – Bulleen & Doncaster Interchanges

Street Light Design

Public Lighting Design was engaged by the North East Link South Alliance (NELSA) to develop a lighting design for compound sites supporting the North East Link project, Victoria’s largest road infrastructure investment. These compounds, including those at the Bulleen and Doncaster Interchanges, play a key role in the upgrade of the Eastern Freeway, serving as staging areas for construction, workforce operations, and equipment storage. Ensuring safe and compliant lighting was important to maintaining operational efficiency and worker safety throughout the project.

Public Lighting Design developed a lighting strategy that incorporated a new lighting scheme, positioned to provide uniform illumination across parking and operational areas while minimising glare and light spill. The design adhered to AS/NZS 1158.3.1-2020, subcategory PC1, ensuring compliance with safety and visibility requirements. By integrating a high-performance lighting solution, the design enhanced site safety, functionality, and visibility for both vehicle and pedestrian movement.

A key focus of the project was seamless coordination with ongoing construction activities and strict adherence to Australian Standards. Public Lighting Design worked with NELSA’s project team and stakeholders to align the lighting design with site-specific needs and project timelines. The final solution provided a compliant lighting system, supporting the safe and efficient execution of the North East Link South Alliance upgrade.
